LOCAL ATTRACTIONS

  • ELBOW FALLS

This popular viewing area is just 15 minutes from Bragg Creek heading west along Hwy 66. Pick a weekday and you’ll be fortunate to avoid the crowds. Falling water is always satisfying to the soul. Pack a lunch and satisfy your stomach at the same time.

  • FORGETMENOT POND

Add another 15 minutes to the drive past Elbow Falls, then turn left to follow the pavement and you’ll be welcomed to a most scenic and reflective spring-fed pond surrounded by the Peaks of Three-Point, Cougar, Banded, Outlaw, Cornwall and Glasgow. Popular for picnics and polar dips. Get there early to find a spot to park.

  • MACLEAN POND

This area is not just for mud-slinging ATV’s. The pond can be a peaceful place to enjoy a picnic, nature walk or angling adventure. Once again, I recommend visiting on a weekday to avoid the crowds. As a PLUZ (Public Land Use Zone) you do not require the Kananaskis Pass to enjoy nature at this location.

  • PRAIRIE MOUNTAIN

It will take a bit of effort to enjoy this view, but worth every heartbeat. The trail begins opposite the parking lot at Elbow Falls and ascends nearly 700 metres to the top. Since the renovation of the trail, there are a number of satisfying vantage points along the way that fall short of the summit. A great training ‘hill’ to get the season started.
